The Library Visits program provides library services to older adults in Genesee County who are unable to visit the library. LV is part of the ask marshall family of programs, funded by a grant from the Muriel H. Marshall Fund for the Aging.
Overseen by the Rochester Area Community Foundation, the fund is a bequest from the estate of Roxanne Marshall who named it in honor of her mother. Ms. Marshall, a former school librarian, wished to enhance the quality of life for older adults in Genesee County.
Genesee County residents at least 60 years old who are confined to their homes due to a short term
or extended illness, disability, or lack of transportation may be eligible for the services of this program.
Caregivers of any age are also eligible to receive this service.
Library Visits also provides rotating mixed media collections to senior housing complexes, adult daycare facilities, nursing homes, and veterans' facilities in Genesee County.

Library Visits always welcomes new volunteers! As our aging population continues to increase, so does the need for services. Volunteers may serve in one or more of the following ways:
- Selecting books and materials for an individual LV program patron or large group loan.
- Delivering library materials and visiting one-on-one with a LV patron.
- Providing limited technological assistance with home computers and personal mobile devices in a LV patron's home.
Our program is ideal for volunteers where flexibility is key. Some of our volunteers work once a week and others once a month. You decide what works best with your schedule.
Interested? Complete our volunteer application.
Please consider sharing your time with this remarkable program.
For more information contact the Library Visits Coordinator (343-9550 x 6) or email LibraryVisits@nioga.org.
The Library Visits Advisory Committee was established to help the Library Board of Trustees direct and promote the LV program. Members of the committee help the coordinator realize the goals of the ask marshall family of programs, funded by a grant from the Muriel H. Marshall fund for the Aging.
Advisory Committee members represent various groups from the library and the community. Groups represented include Library Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library, LV volunteers, and individuals who serve our county's aging population, such as representatives from nursing homes and the Genesee County Office for the Aging.
