The Members Only Preview Book Sale is held quarterly for members of the Friends of the Library on the night before the regular monthly sale from 5pm - 7pm.Why join the Friends of the Library? Memberships begin at just $5 for adults. Your membership fee goes to support library programming such as summer reading, Richmond Reads, craft programs and much more!New members may join at the door or anytime the library is open!PLEASE NOTE: The use of price-scanning devices and software or utilizing mobile devices to check for resale is not permitted at any time during quarterly members-only sales. Those in violation of this policy may be asked to leave.

Join us for our November adult book discussion of Passing by Nella Larsen in the RML Reading Room on Monday, November 2nd at 6:30pm and Wednesday, November 18th at 9:30am. Irene Redfield is living an affluent life with her husband and children in the thriving African American enclave of Harlem in the 1920s - until she runs into her childhood friend, Clare Kendry. Clare has been passing for a white woman, married to a racist man who does not know about his wife's real identity. Irene is both fascinated and repulsed by Clare's secret, and in turn, Clare yearns for Irene's sense of ease and security with her Black identity. Clare begins to insert herself and her decption into every part of Irene's stable existence, and their complex reunion sets off a chain of events that dynamically alters each woman for ever. Copies are available one month prior to discussion.
